Oprah takes a bagged lunch to work,
yet many of us insist on spending between
$7 to $20 a day for lunch.
Our grandparents understood
how and when to spend money.
They didn't drive
if they could walk.
They packed as many errands
into a trip as possible.
They packed cooked food on ice,
drove the car to a vacation site,
and stayed with friends instead of
splurging on 5-star hotels.
They bought snacks at the grocery store
instead of stopping at restaurants.
They toured America during the day,
dreamed of the European hotspots at night,
and watched their certificates of deposits grow.
That generation always seemed to have money
when it was really needed.
The high point of this economy?
This generation is learning the value of the dollar.
